Remembered today Private 18577 Leslie John Burton, 1st Battalion, Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment). Died of wounds 12th January 1916. Born Somercotes, enlisted Nottingham, resident Alfreton Derbyshire. Buried in the SAILLY-SUR-LA-LYS-CANADIAN CEMETERY

Hopefully the Crich Stand Memorial light still shines out in memory of the Foresters.In the thirties we could see it in the high distance from Tibshelf. Paying respects Ron Ward

I can see the memorial glinting from where I live except when its foggy like today!

I grew up with a distant view of the Stand from my bedroom as a kid in Tibshelf!
