whiterose Posted 12 January , 2009 Share Posted 12 January , 2009 Hi, The Division was heading for or was around Meteren(Battle of the Lys) during these dates with three Reserve Infanterie Regiments-Nr.267,Nr.268 and Nr.269 together with the rest of it`s composition.I would very much appreciate either a Division or a Regiment account from the German perspective for the dates mentioned. Not writing a book but it is part of my direct family military research. Regards, George.
Hoplophile Posted 14 January , 2009 Share Posted 14 January , 2009 Comprehensive regimental histories (each of more than 400 pages) were written for RIR 267 and 269. They are: Fritz von Bast, Königlich Preussisches Reserve Infanterie Regiment Nr. 267 im Grossen Krieg, (Zeulenroda: Sporn, 1936) and Max Eder, Das Preussisches Reserve Infanterie Regiment Nr. 269, (Zuelenroda: Sporn, 1937.) Hoplophile Posted 16 January , 2009 Share Posted 16 January , 2009 Talk to your friendly neighborhood research librarian to see if you can't get these via interlibrary loan.
whiterose Posted 16 January , 2009 Author Share Posted 16 January , 2009 Hoplophile, Worth a try but my usual search by title for both books has`nt come up with a possible library location in UK. Have found a copy of RIR 269 by Eder available in Germany for 60 Euros. Will approach the British Library directly and if either books are there a request could be made via the library exchange system.
