amlovell Posted 10 January , 2009 Share Posted 10 January , 2009 As you seem to know, he commanded U 80 and U 58 It appears U 80 is listed as the boat that hit Kirkland Your best bet to find a photo would be to inquire at the WW1 forum at uboat.net or try u-boot.net.de (posts will be mostly in German, but may be able to help) http://www.uboat.net/forums/list.php?23 http://www.u-boot-net.de/phpBB/ tone
Joe R Posted 10 January , 2009 Share Posted 10 January , 2009 Hello Lass, There are some pictures at this site. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php...559&start=0 Scroll down and you'll find him. He doesn't look too happy to be in the Peach Tree State in the good ole USA. Best Regards, Joe R
Simon S. Posted 11 January , 2009 Share Posted 11 January , 2009 Hello, the mine which struck the "Kirkland" was laid by U 80 when Alfred von Glasenapp was commander. I know that the "Deutsches U-Boot-Museum", the former "U-Boot-Archiv", have a picture of him in the photo collection. Best wishes, Simon
