myos Posted 9 January , 2009 Share Posted 9 January , 2009 My uncle Archibald Louis Norris served with the West Riding Regiment (14574) and later the Labour Corps (219942). I have a letter to my father from another brother written in 1948, when A L N was dying, which mentions that he was badly gassed in the war. I had hoped that this service record may shed some light on the where and when. http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo91/my...rrisservice.jpg It isn't a very good print, and to my unfamiliar eyes leaves questions still to be answered. I think that among other things it says he refused a promotion to L Cpl (unpaid) and that at some stage was seconded to the Northumberland Fusiliers. Can any kind soul please enlighten me further?
