Gat Posted 9 January , 2009 Share Posted 9 January , 2009 My uncle, 2nd Lieut. G.A.T. Benson, was killed near LesBoeufs, France on October 28th 1916 during a 1st Middlesex attack on the trenches in front of Le Transloy. The Battalion War Diary for October 29th says "The Battalion moved back to the old German position known as the FLERS LINE and remained there during the day. Fatigue parties were provided for work in the line." I assume the "Flers Line" is near Flers but I would like to know more about it. Any information would really be appreciated. jay dubaya Posted 10 January , 2009 Share Posted 10 January , 2009 Hi Gat, on 28th October the battalion saw action around Dew Drop Trench. 2/Lt Benson is recorded as KiA on this date. The overlays are as acurate as I can get them at this early hour, but hopefully they'll give you some idea of the locations, Jon
