Spotted this by the grass verge to a plough field outside Monchy le Preux, does anyone know what type it is or any info, and yes left well alone for the proper chaps to dispose, pic taken only, cheers Boggy

Its a pity there isn't another object near it to give a scale. The 4 inch Stokes round used principally by the Americans for gas or smoke delivery looked very similar but obviously was slightly bigger than the 3 inch but I'd agree that the balance of probability is heavily weighted to the 3 inch.

It looks as if the fuze nose cap is still in position.
