The original German editions run to certainly two (or it might be three) volumes for 1915. http://www.wlu.ca/press/Catalog/humphries-maker.shtml £33 on Amazon UK, which is very reasonable for such a specialist book. As there's no preview/excerpt available, I can't know for certain, but I'm guessing these will be translations produced 70 or so years ago in support of the Canadian and British official histories; the Canadians produced some excellent monographs for WW2 campaigns based on German material. I hope that they do the maps in colour, unlike in 1956. It will be interesting what and how much is translated, my mums last translation for me was 3 pages to 1.5 pages, so 420 pages might be a whole volume, each being around 700 plus, though 1915 in German is 3 volumes. My mum is currently translating Vol 13, 1917, the bit on the activities around Riga in 1917 and Operation Albion, she has also promised to do Third Ypres.... I was approached by a Canadian a few years back to assist with the project, but declined in view of the need to produce several volumes of the German Army series before 2014. This is the set with 14 volumes, of which number 13 and 14 are very difficult to find? This is only 420 pages and is a single volume of a seven volume series yet to be produced? This seems to be available for pre-order at Amazon USA for $85. I'm just not so sure what it is or what the follow-on publication dates are supposed to be. While I am very interested, I would ask if someone else has any more information? It must be completely abridged. There is one volume being released 1915, which in the German original is 3 volumes of the 14. We don't know if it covers all three, or one. As explained earlier in this and other posts I'm lucky enough to have sets, and someone translating bits who served with elements of the German Army, 1941-1944 so she actually understands Gothic script and the terms, she recently translated 3 German pages to one and a half pages. Thank you for any help. :mellow: From the blurb on the publisher's website, it looks like they are tackling the entire series (!), beginning with 1915, but evidently abridging the translation to squeeze the year into a single English-language volume; that will be somewhat easier, given the fact that they're only doing the Western Front, not the East...
