Hello the Forum.

Was there such a classification as "Auditer" in any of the above artillery regiments.

Cheers All Rob.

Hello Rob

The nearest I can think of is Artificer, which covered wheelers, saddlers, fitters and smiths - the technical guys.

But the HAC, being financially independent of the War Office in peacetime, might have had an Auditor to check and report on its accounts. What is the context?

Ron and Dick. Thanks for the replies

An old collector friend and I we were having a chat last week regarding ranks and trade qualifications, and he came up with "Auditor"

He explained he once had a silver type trophy of a field gun and limber presented to an officer upon his retirement, and it had presented to (Name unknown) Auditor upon his retirement from the regiment. Perhaps a presentation from the Officers Mess??

Cheers Rob.
