2nd Lt Beresford Karr Horan

An odd one is this lad - cant find him on the UK GRO indexes - is he a Canadian - or is he a Kiwi training with the Canadians. Probably died in France or Flanders - so where do I look for his DC ref taking into account the above information

Beresford Karr HORAN

born 14.1.1892

Son of Rev.C.T.Horan, Holbrooke Hall, Derby

Marlborough College Sep.1905 to Easter 1907

Farmer in Canada

Great Wat: 2nd. Lieutenant 30th. Wellington Rifles

Died whilst in training with the Regiment 24.12.1915

The addresses given in the Directory for parents are those applicable at the time a boy entered the college.

Already found his grave at Mount Pleasant, London, Onatario

Well the surprising thing about this research is sometimes what you find out

The reply I received today from the Canadian archives is that he was decleared a deserter on the 17th Nov 1915 not being pardoned until the general amensty of 12th Dec 1919

Therefore no entitlement to a war grave
