SMG65 Posted 27 December , 2008 Share Posted 27 December , 2008 Pte Lipmann, W Coy, 2nd Royal Fusiliers was of Russian parentage, volunteered in August 1914 and served in Gallipoli. On 28th June 1916, on the Somme he volunteered for a patrol with the intention of deserting to the Germans. This he did and provided the Germans with a lot of information about the forthcoming Somme offensive. Does anybody know what became of Lipmann?
