Guest tapp1919 Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 I am trying to establish my uncle's (Frank Tapp born in South Moulton) involvement in the Great War. I believe he served with the Hampshires at Gallipoli. I have contacted the Hampshire's Museum and they can find no record.
Chris_Baker Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 Welcome to the forum, tapp1919 Hardly surprising that the regimental museum could tell you nothing. Most of them can't. This is because the soldiers records - if they have survived - are at the National Archives at Kew. As it says at the top of this page, have a look at "Grandad's War" at The Long, Long Trail website. There's a link to it at top-left of this page below the forum logo. Be sure to read at least "The Basics", "Service Papers" and "Grandad's Medals". You'll then be much better informed about how to research Frank Tapp.
Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 An e-mail to Marc Thompson, the Forum's expert on the Hampshires, may also be fruitful. Ian
