Guest QARNNS Officer Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 Hi, I have found the medal card for my great uncle Albert Bush, (service number 6346), but I don't read know how to read it. would someone be so kidn as to tell me what he was entitled to? Second question, as he KIA, would his medals have automatically gotten sent to his closest living relative? I've attached the pdf file of his medal card. Thanks in advance Chris 34381.pdf
Yorts Posted 15 March , 2004 Share Posted 15 March , 2004 Hi, Is it just me (i.e. am I missing something?) or do none of those gentleman whose medal index cards are shown have the service number 6346? However, as you say your relative was killed in action and only one of the MICs indicate a casualty, is 2357 Pte Albert Bush Middlesex Regiment your relative? The CWGC indicates the following, so could you confirm this is correct? Name: BUSH, ALBERT Initials: A Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Private Regiment: Middlesex Regiment Unit Text: 1st/7th Bn. Age: 25 Date of Death: 10/09/1916 Service No: 2357 Additional information: Son of Oscar and Emily Bush, of 38, Springfield Rd., New Southgate, London. Native of Birmingham. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: XXIV. H. 6. Cemetery: DELVILLE WOOD CEMETERY, LONGUEVAL If this is him, then based on the MIC then he was awarded a 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and a Victory Medal. These would have been sent to the Next of Kin indicated on his service record. He entered theatre of war 1a (France and Flanders) on the 12th March 1915. The details after the medal entries on the card show which book and page of the medal rolls his entry will be found on. Hope this helps, Rgds, Alex.
