WASMAN Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 Hi, was wondering if someone can tell me if a MID shows up on a MIC or a medal roll and what is the best way of researching it, cheers wasman
Chris_Baker Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 The MIC will often be marked "Emblems", for the oak leaf emblem that was given for a Mention. The emblem was to be affixed to the ribbon of the Victory Medal. All Mentions were listed in the London Gazette. There is a partial index of MIDs at the National Archives. Guest Ian Bowbrick Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 No it doesn't. There is an individual index card system for MID at the PRO. Note that it is incomplete. Ian
Yorts Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 Hi, There is a listing of naval recipients of MIDs for the great war in ADM 171, although I have never tested how complete it is. Most entries in this list the name of the recipient without service details, i.e. name rank and number. Rgds, Alex.
