Hi all,

We have inherited another photo from the South African side of our family and we have no idea which unit this, where they are or who any of the men are in the photo

Can anyone help us please?!

Thanks,

The Bells

If it is any help I think it is interwar. The trousers and shoes rather than boots or puttees suggest t his. They also appear to be wearing the Wolsely pattern helmet- the SAs later adopted a smaller helmet in time for the Second War. Just possibly SA Air Force which was part of hte Army and used military rank etc It loks as if it could be a sort of copy of the RAF badge with an eagle in a laurel wreath. Most military forces in South Africa were volunteers rather than regulars the so called Citizen Force
