Sunken Lane (or Hunter's Trench), Beaumont Hamel July 1st 1916, 1st Lancashire Fusiliers about to go over the top. Probably a still from Malins' film. Look at their young faces. I am not sure which way the 'boys' are facing. My 'today' pic is facing north, towards The Redan.

And today.

Nice one Len and brother too. A lot of similar thinking appears to go on when we go 'there'

Excellent thread!

I believe that you have been given the wrong now picture for Connaught. Mrs Montgomery is standing between Plot 11 and Plot 12 with Plot 12 to her right. There would be 20 headstones between her left hand and the wide path past Plot 1.

I do not have the right view to offer.

...thank you for the kind comments

Peter well spotted, think the merged picture should suite, but will see if I can make a difference

Len and his brother, great stuff, just what the thread is all about.....can you imagine the pictures being taken by the Forum this year...cannot wait to see them

DCLI , well the wife was on the laptop last night, but late night snacks produced these, is the text alright everyone?

Well done Andy - nice morphing. White City works very well. It is a very interesting place to visit. I shall certainly go there again and try and get some more pics.

I will be over there this spring so, I shall bear this thread in mind.

Before we get carried away with these 'Then and Now' comparisan photos would it not be a

good idea to get them right ?

There is I believe an error with the one posted by 1st AIF of the Menin Road, perhaps other pals

can spot it.

If I am wrong, then I am wrong, but........

This is the first thread I check when I log in. Thankyou to everyone who contributes photos and the clever ones who morph them together.
