DCLI Posted 24 January , 2009 Share Posted 24 January , 2009 Sunken Lane (or Hunter's Trench), Beaumont Hamel July 1st 1916, 1st Lancashire Fusiliers about to go over the top. Probably a still from Malins' film. Look at their young faces. I am not sure which way the 'boys' are facing. My 'today' pic is facing north, towards The Redan. And today. Peter Woodger Posted 25 January , 2009 Share Posted 25 January , 2009 Excellent thread! I believe that you have been given the wrong now picture for Connaught. Mrs Montgomery is standing between Plot 11 and Plot 12 with Plot 12 to her right. There would be 20 headstones between her left hand and the wide path past Plot 1. I do not have the right view to offer. Peter

stripeyman Posted 30 January , 2009 Share Posted 30 January , 2009 Before we get carried away with these 'Then and Now' comparisan photos would it not be a good idea to get them right ? There is I believe an error with the one posted by 1st AIF of the Menin Road, perhaps other pals can spot it. If I am wrong, then I am wrong, but........
