Here is a view taken on our Belgium trip in 2007, we stayed at the fitness & equestrian hotel!..........this was Frowsty House the British HQ near to Le Clytte in 1917/18

I found the Scherpenberg postcard view from an unknown source months ago [if it yours and you want me to remove it I will] , it seems quite a good match

Thank you for this emotional contribution to the thread....there are many photographs that we have seen over the years that we use to explain the hardships of war, this personal photograph speaks volumes

Why do we run 2 separate threads with same title? They are both here in Classics and should be merged. Is that possible?

My first attempt of merging a Google Earth image together with an aerial photograph covering the No Mans Land near Cunichy, showing the La Bassee Canal and the Brickstack remains.

The aerial photograph was taken by 10 Squadron Royal Flying Corps on 2nd April, 1916.

Google Earth merged with Merville taken on 18th July, 1918.

Sepoy

NB: My first attempt at trying these aerial photograph merges has left a big red square with a cross over Arleux en Gohelle. Does anyone know how to get rid of this????

Here is another Google Earth/Aerial photo scan overlay of Arleux en Gohelle, just to the north east of Arras.

The aerial photo was taken on 7th May, 1917.
