Andy, that's great. I definitely need to practice some more to get it right.

Hopefully i will then be able to contribute, as i think this thread is terrific. I also have a few lined up. Cheers. JIM

Sorry, have I stumbled into Skindles ? This superb thread appears to have degenerated into a Music Hall sketch.

Keith

Sorry, you're right, forgot where I was. Have deleted

Here's a 'then & now' from a local news site that's slightly different as it shows a reconstruction by modern day soldiers (in modern kit) of a photo taken of injured men recovering at Clandon Park in Surrey Click

This was always a favourite of mine when looking at my grandpa's photos with him in the 60s. This year when looking at the backs of some other cards I spotted "Hadleigh, Essex" in the postmark. I then put the picture on a local history site down there and soon enough it was identified. Apparently it was taken from upstairs in a recently knocked down pub. Note war memorial to the middle right of the photo. Pictures show marching men of the 2/6th RWF prior to his trip to Suvla.

The church at Portianou, Lemnos. The CWGC cemetery is on the far side of this church. The officers and sisters are from the 3rd Australian General Hospital.
