Hi all,

Ive recently seen for sale a 1915 Star Trio of Medals to the Middlesex Regiment where the MIC shows first date of entry into the war on the 11th November 1915 in the "Bay of Bengal". This chap was a Territorial so could only have been in the 1/9th or 1/10th of the Middlesex Regiment. BUT I cannot see any theatre of war in India that would warrant an entitlement to a 15 Trio. The 1/10th remained in India for the duration, most entitlements were a single BWM only, some went off to the North West Frontier earnly Pairs. The 1/9th also stayed in India moving to Mesopotamia in 1917 so most were entitled to pairs only.

So what im getting at (if your still with me), is that he could have only been eligable for the 15 Star for 7 or so weeks in 1915. Were there any actions in India around that time that warranted him earning the 1915 Star Trio ??

Hope someone can help.

Regards

James

Certain areas of the NWF entitled recipients to the 1914~15 Star~ The pair then followed automatically,in fact those who also qualified for the later IGS 1908~35 with Afghanistan & NWF 1919 ended up with 4 Medals for their troubles...
