His partially burnt service records appear on the WWI Service Records section. It appears that he was discharged due to a gastric ulcer and later died http://content.ancestry.co.uk/Browse/view....p;rc=&zp=

Sorry I really should have read your post properly before replying. Since he was a pre-war Territorial, and was thus presumably in uniform from 1908 til 1918, he should be entitled to more than the Silver War Badge mentioned on the medal card you posted. There must be a medal card somewhere I suppose. T_T

Tartan_Terrier Posted 16 November , 2008 Share Posted 16 November , 2008 I'm not sure, this may be one for the Gordons museum, as unless I'm reading it wrong he also had 12 years regular service prior to enlisting in the Territorials, if this is correct he may also have served in the Boer War. http://www.gordonhighlanders.com/family/

jocktamson Posted 16 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 16 November , 2008 As you can see from the above,I have a medal card with s.w.b mention only.I was then reading Chris paton's page about medal cards... http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/mic.htm at the bottom of he page states the following: '' It was not usual but there are many cases where a man has more than one card. This is especially the case where he was issued with the Silver War Badge.'' Can anyone tell me where to go next in my quest to find the elusive ''other card'.thank you

I have now found this: 355715, Sgt, McArthur, Kenneth, HLI, badge & cert no 488688, 15/6/1908-7/10/1918, sickness, Age 41, para XVI, overseas No AO11b(11). will this help me find either another medal card for this man ?? and If so,do I need to go to Kew??Any help/direction here, would be greatly appreciated. It will help you, but not to find another MIC. The clue is at the end "overseas No" i.e. he didn't serve overseas and therefore wasn't entitled to any other medals.
