How to find out?

Hi,

Relief workers to Belgian soldiers moved their offices in 1917 from a room in Hotel Cecil to 37 West-Strand, London. Unfortunately they don't mention what kind of building that is. All I know is that they were first located on the first floor, and later moved to a larger office on the second floor.

Anyone a suggestion how to find out what kind of building was located at that time at that location?

Thanks

My local ref Library has a collection of KELLY's Street Directories going back quite a few years but I am not sure if it goes back as far as you need. It's worth a try in your local library (assuming you are in the UK!),they might have other means, I think our Library archives have similar bits in the basement. Worth asking yours ?
