looking for E.kirkham.He is buried in rhostyllen nr wrexham but i can't seem to find info anywhere,he may not have served overseas.would anyone know anything from his service number thanks julie

From: The Long, Long Trail:

"16th (Reserve) Battalion

Formed in Hoylake in December 1914 as Service battalion, part of K4.

November 1914 : attached to 105th Brigade, original 35th Division.

10 April 1915 : became a Reserve battalion.

1 September 1916 : absorbed into Training Reserve Battalions in 11th Reserve Brigade."

It might be worth looking at the Liverpool newspapers for the weeks following his death.

Hi ken thanks for the info,16 represents the battalion then ,i thought it might,can't seem to find his mic at the moment but i will keep trying

That number was probably issued around July/August 1916, and as he died on 10th August 1916 he probably didn't serve overseas and so won't have a Card
