KIRKY Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Hi been asked by a friend to look into his Gt Grandfathers war history. I have got his MIC shows Richard Baker Leics 24134 and North Staffs 42395 ( which he did not know about) He would love to know where he was in War , where can I go from here? how can I find the Battalions involved? sotonmate Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Tony You could post the letters and numbers from the MIC and see if anyone can help from that. It's a way of getting the Battalion from the original Medal Roll. Sotonmate
KIRKY Posted 13 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Thanks for that! They look like F/104B12 page 1387. Tony

KIRKY Posted 13 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Actually never used it, what could it tell me? tony
sotonmate Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Neither have I ! I usually look in WO363 at Kew if I am seeking. Of course it is FREE on Ancestry this month ! They have the service records that we would see in WO363,and B for Baker is there apparently, though it doesn't bring back all those that were lost. sotonmate Posted 19 November , 2008 Share Posted 19 November , 2008 Tony I have the Medal Roll page from WO329/1580. It doesn't give a battalion though. If you want a copy please send me your e-mail address. Sotonmate

raich Posted 20 November , 2008 Share Posted 20 November , 2008 Do you know where Pte Baker originated from, for a Newspaper Check From his number, he attested in Leics sometime between Nov 1915 and March 1916 Reg
raich Posted 20 November , 2008 Share Posted 20 November , 2008 From his number, he attested in Leics sometime between Nov 1915 and March 1916 Reg His numer is 5 figures, which probably means he is 6, 7, 8 or 9th Bn. (Same division i.e. 21st Div) which means if you buy excellent book "The Tigers" by Matthew Richardson you should see where he fought. Reg
