Guest xjosettex Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Please can any one give me any pointers regarding the above unit. My Grandfather served here in the Great War - on a day off he met a french lady who became my Grandmother his story is very precious to our family and I would really like to bring it even more to life for us. Thank you for any help.
Ron Clifton Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Hello Muggie, and welcome to the Forum. ASC is Army Service Corps, and A P usually stands for Ammunition Park - a motor transport unit of about 200 men which carried ammunition from rail junctions up to the point where it was collected by divisional ammunition columns, which were horse-drawn. The snag is with the number. Are you quite sure that this is correct? It could stand for 2nd Indian Ammunition Park, but no such unit served in France. Have another look at where you got the title to see if could be a mistake for something else. (There wasn't a 211 Ammo Park either.) Ron
