jagjetta Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Greetings, I am searching for promotions of Lt. John Webb, 301st Tank Bn. He did receive the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions at Bellincourt on Sept. 29, 1918. What I am interested in learning is the rank he held when he was discharged. Can anyone offer any suggestions where I could look? Thank you! John A-G Jackson, Missouri USA
Carmania Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 John Not much help I know but John Rudolph Webb does not appear in the Army Register of 1st December 1918 (the first published since 1915) which implies that he did not get much further. The citation for his DSC gives his rank as Second Lieutenant. He was born 2nd October 1893 and died in San Diego on 6th June 1984. Aled
jagjetta Posted 13 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Thank you Aled. I was wondering if there was an Army Register that might list him, so you eliminated one avenue for him! That is very helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to check. I have found scattered references to John Rudolph Webb participating in the oil industry in the 1920s, making at least one trip to Argentina. He was also a deputy sheriff after the war. I have been unable to locate an obituary, though. I am hoping that will make some reference to his highest rank attained.
