Terry Denham Posted 6 November , 2008 Share Posted 6 November , 2008 Andy No news yet. They are in hand. The physical inspections have to be fitted in with other scheduled visits and then the legal stuff relating to permissions for headstone erection can take a loooong time. I will email you when there is news.

MaggieSK Posted 8 November , 2008 Share Posted 8 November , 2008 Thank you! A good friend and all-round super lady has a little site about the Maloja - here www.ssmaloja.co.uk I hope this helps. As well as the press reports, there are a few more Dover burials mentioned, and pictures of headstones.
Neil Clark Posted 8 November , 2008 Share Posted 8 November , 2008 http://www.ssmaloja.co.uk A superb little website by Joyce Banks. It will be interesting to see if either of these casualties has an actual headstone in Dover? If not, then I presume their names will eventually be taken off the Tower Memorial and new headstones erected? Chris, I'm sure between us all we should be able to confirm where exactly they are buried. This is a super find, well done.
Neil Clark Posted 10 November , 2008 Share Posted 10 November , 2008 Joyce K.A Banks has just very kindly sent me these photos which I'm sure you would like to see Chris. A Merchantile Marine casualty and a RAMC officer casualty both buried locally in Dover I think. Note the rank of the RAMC is a Surgeon (never seen that before). Email me if you want full size copies Chris. I wonder if your casualties are buried close by? -

chrisharley9 Posted 13 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Terry there is some confusion here - both grave refs for Maine are the same - so is he Indian army or RAMC? Chris
Terry Denham Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 Chris There is only one entry for RAMC - check online. Or are you complaining about speedy service?

Neil Clark Posted 13 November , 2008 Share Posted 13 November , 2008 And that was as a consequence of posting a simple photograph... Nice to see it's been corrected well done Terry. With regard to the rank, surely a Surgeon is an appointment not a rank? I have heard of a naval Surgeon Lieutenant Commander etc as a rank, but never an Army officer.
