devonshire reg.oct 1918

hi ,

my grandfather ernest coles born 2-8-1893 enlisted 1910 ASN - 9273 served with the 2nd batt devonshire reg ww1 , he was awarded the MM for his actions on or during the 10th/11th october 1918 in france.

i have the original letter sent on behalf the king dated 31-oct-1918,

i would like to know ,were and why he was awarded the MM .

i have a copy of his medal card and have a copy of the devonshire books 1 & 2 (light blue cover )but iam unable to find these details .
