1/10th london regiment at the second battle of gaza.

hi everyone

im looking for some info on the 1/10th london regiment (hackney rifles) involvement at the second battle of gaza. especially the 19th april 1917 this is where my grandad died, 421008 pte j.f hyde. i know he landed at gallipolli on 10/08/15 and would love to find out the actions he took part in between these dates.

for his Brigade and Division,and if you click on Palestine part way down the page in blue letters you will get further detail on engagements there.

Hi James,

My grandad was also there on that date, although he was in the RGA, in his journal for 19th April 1917 he writes

"Opened fire at 5:30am and continued a terrific bombardment on Gaza all day till dark an awful row, taubes over looking for us, fired 150 rounds, moved to new positions at night."

Maybe someone has the War Diaries for the 1/10th London Regiment for that day.

just want to say a big thanks to steve B who supplied me copies of the 1st/10th londons war diary for the 19th. his help has been greatly appreciated.
