W.Summerbell DLI 1916 (from Durham City?)

Hi can any one tell me about this soldier W.Summberbell, who I believe was from Durham City, he has an 'R' on his lower left arm, also a wound stripe. It was taken by Wilkinson Durham

Hi Michael,

I stand to be corrected on this...the 'R' encircled in a laurel wreath is a Rangefinders badge. The chevron on the cuff was awarded for good conduct.

This looks like it could be his MIC, the date would put him with the 10th (Service) Bn of the 43rd Brigade, 14th (Light) Division,
