Lieut Louis Edgar Workman DSC

I have recently had the great good fortune to meet with the daughter of the above RNR officer. His DSC was gazetted on 13th April 1918 for services in action with enemy submarines. It is possible that his ship was the Hildebrand.

I assume that this a Q ship award? Can anyone help with any information.

John and Stephen,

Very many thanks for your help on this one. The daughter knows very little of her father's service. Interestingly, Auten was awarded the VC, whilst Grey, Strahan and Workman received the DSC and Starling received the CGM.

More research I think!

DSC also to Rainey, Anakin and Davis. CMG also to Livingstone, in his citation it mentions that Lieut. Workman was in charge of the 'panic party' when 'abandoning ship'.
