amelialongcroft Posted 3 November , 2008 Share Posted 3 November , 2008 A bit of a tall order, but can this photo tell me anything? No date on the back, but I'm dating it late 1917 early 1918 going by the small boy on the soldier's knee in the middle row, who was my grandad (b. August 1916). Great-grandad is second from the left on the ground. Rather a motley crew!
themonsstar Posted 3 November , 2008 Share Posted 3 November , 2008 I would go for 1920/23 has some of them have medals ribbins.
truthergw Posted 3 November , 2008 Share Posted 3 November , 2008 It is a cracking photograph. It seems a bit relaxed for wartime. I can't think there were too many family days, during the war. 1918/19, home posting and waiting for demob day?
amelialongcroft Posted 3 November , 2008 Author Share Posted 3 November , 2008 Thanks chaps, I agree that it does look too relaxed for wartime (I'm particularly enjoying the chap with the skew-wiff cap badge in the middle), and hadn't spotted the medal ribbons, so ta for that observation
Staffsyeoman Posted 4 November , 2008 Share Posted 4 November , 2008 I deduce Territorials of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps (the soldier with the lad on his knee appears to have a T on his shoulder strap) - certainly puts them post 1919.
