Well it seems the futher I dig the more family I find who served in WW1

John James Noonan is my wife's G Grandfather.

I will request a copy of John James Noonans service records from NZ archives, and have had a look at the Auckland Museum Cenotaph site, but wondered if anyone had any further info outside these sources on him.

The only other info I have so far is a story about him loosing a lung due to the war, so his could be an interesting set of information.

I now feel a bit greedy, I am currently looking into 4 direct or in law participants of WW1 from our combined family, and they all appear to have made it back to NZ to carry on their lives post WW1.

I still have 3 other pieces of the family to look into, so I may be on the hunt for even more info soon.

I think there are some photos floating around of most of these guys, so I will see what I can get hold of in coming weeks.

This research is just so addictive

Hi BillyVan

How did you get on with this eventually? John James Noonan 6/3117 NZEF is my husband's grandfather. I have a copy of his service records but no photo, so if you managed to find one of him (especially in his uniform) I would love to be able to get hold of a copy.

Cheers

Di
