Remembered Today:

RW KENT Shoulder title

Does any one have a picture of a Royal West Kent's shoulder title?

Also does anyone know - do the squared off loops at the back denote WW1 or is this just an old wives tale....

Thanks,

Si

Hi Simon,

as far as I know both types fixings were in use during the war. The S/T came in 3 sizes, the smaller squatter one being an officers issue,

Hi Simon

Both types were undoubtedly in use 14-18 as stated above, but I've seen numerous Boer War period uniforms with brass titles, which only ever had the hexagonal lugs. So I believe this pattern is earlier.

Regards,

W.

Many thanks guys - I couldn't find a RW Kents s/t anywhere in my books.

I had a look at my photos from Gallipoli. One of the museum shows a load of badges recovered from the battlefield which shows shouder titles and cap badges with both the hexagonal fittings and brass or copper loops. Although the hexagonal loops seem to feature more on the shoulder titles than the loops do...
