Wayne Saillard Posted 31 October , 2006 Share Posted 31 October , 2006 Last year I acquired the Memorial Plaque of Major Alfred Edward COOK, 9th Regiment Australian Light Horse, who is buried in the cemetery where the main Anzac Day service is held here on Malta. Major COOK was wounded at Gallipoli and evacuated to Malta for treatment, where he later died. When the Memorial Plaque arrived it was then mounted and placed in a frame with the intention of my placing it on his grave for the duration of the service - which was in fact done. A photographer with one of the local newspapers took the photograph reproduced below, which shows my five year old daughter in a pensive mood at the graveside.
