PloegsteertWood.jpg

These candles were placed on the cross of sacrifice by an earlier visitor to Ploegsteert Wood Cemetery, and relit (momentarily) by us.

Caterpillar Crater near Hill 60 in Zillebeke. I just like the serene scene you are greeted with after the short walk through the woods.

Bailleulfromourgite3.jpg

My (current) favourite. A view of Bailleul at sunrise taken from our gite in Meteren.

We were there between the 9th and 16th of November last year (2006).

Foolishly, I didn't look at all the pages on this thread before posting mine. I feel rather out of my depth now. They are all brilliant. A few favourites: Ken Lees picture at the top of page 2, Tony Cox's picture number three on page 6, 303Man's picture of Tyne Cot on page 11 and all of Cnock's pictures! Surely you are a professional.

Well done to everyone, keep them coming. A truly brilliant thread.

Why not - Thiepval Wood June 30 2006.

First visit - wandered in - wondered at the beauty - contemplated the tormented ground - was amazed by the recuperative powers of mother nature.

Mostonian,

Thanks, but I am as much professional as You are.

I like all pictures on this thread.

There were taken by people who are not indifferen to what they see on the former battlefields.

Many pics fix for ever a feeling of the photopgrapher at that particular moment.

Regards,

Cnock

Hooge Crater Cem, Zillebeke

Cnock, I have filmed this cemetery from exactly the same spot on a sunny day, when shadows of clouds went over the field towards the cemetery. Chilling.

Hello

Here are a couple of my favorites. I would never be able to narrow the number down to one. I took this in April 2005 and unfortunatly the mommunt was under construction at that time.

Hooge cemetery, Pals tour 2005. I remember walking in to this cemetery like it was yesterday.

Seems to me that the troops are still prepared, awaiting the order to go over the top.

Some really awesome (and I do not use that word) photos in this thread, keep it coming.

Thanks Ivan,

Hopefully the next time I go, I will actually have the chance to go on to the monument and see it up close.
