Chris_Baker Posted 2 March , 2004 Share Posted 2 March , 2004 Can anyone tell me anything about a large draft of men from the Army Service Corps who joined 12th (Service) Bn, the King's (Liverpool regiment) in 1917? Any ideas when, why, how?
Promenade Posted 23 March , 2004 Share Posted 23 March , 2004 Chris, About 75 men transferred from the ASC to 12 KLR - the number block is approx 50295 to 50372. The transfer probably took place in October 1916 when a total of 683 ORs are reported to have joined while the Battalion was located in a number of areas in the Somme theatre. One of those who transferred was from 55 Company ASC - which makes sense however them men seemed to have originated from many areas of the UK. The how and why are subject to speculation. Can I ask the reason for your query? Regards Joe Devereux
