Remembered Today:

Restoration of memorial at Kilgobbin, Dublin

Michael Pegum

Recommended Posts

The Great War memorial in this suburb of Dublin had become very corroded over the years. The plaques with the original 29 names were replaced, and an additional 10 names were added. The memorial was re-dedicated on 27th September, with a very good representative turn-out, including members of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association, the Irish Guards Association, the Connaught Rangers Association, the Irish Army U.N. Veterans Association, and the Organisation of National Ex-servicemen and women (Irish Army veterans).

The restoration was organised by Ken Kinsella, seen in the centre of the front row.

The additions to the memorial will be up on the Irish War Memorials website as soon as I can manage it.
