Clive Temple Posted 29 September , 2008 Share Posted 29 September , 2008 God bless them but when you were sat on your Grandad's knee, away from the earshot of questioning adult minds, did your Grandad ever tell tales that, let's say in older life you remembered and felt needed somewhat more than a pinch of salt? My Grandad, veteran of HMS Topaze in WW1 was often fond of telling me how he worked at Vickers before and during WW2 (which was true). He was also fond of telling me how Barnes Wallis used to bring his model T around for my Grandad to fix because (and let's not make this public knowledge) BW for all the bouncing bomb stuff wasn't a very practical man and really had no idea about engines and all that technical stuff.
