I do believe I made a mistake with my last post. It may be Big Bertha I was Thinking about. Anyone know about this one.

It rather depends:

"Dicke Bertha" (Fat Bertha) was the name given to the 420 mm howitzers used throughout the war. There were many of them, used in various seiges, most famously at Liege in 1914. It was supposedly named after Bertha Krupp, daughter of the owner of the factory that made them (Though that may be apocryphal).

The term is also commonly though incorrectly used for the ultra long range railway guns, the most famous of which shelled Paris (to not much effect) in 1918.

So which are you after?

Just to throw another name into the ring, that could possibly be the gun you're thinking of - "Lange Max".

Could you give us more description of what the gun is that you're trying to find out about?

Dave.
