Recommended Posts

Hi all,

does anyone have any pictures of a 50 round .303 cloth bandoleer?

I have recently aquired on on feebay ,marked W.H. & Sons dated 11/3/18.

It has buttons in black marked -suspender.It has the 5 sections and is complete with minimum wear. There is a small letter 'o' about 1/2 in below the button and looks pretty clean.

Will do some pictures tomorrow.

Many thanks for your help.

Andy

Hi Peter,

that looks great, very similar to mine, ile do a picture tonight. Can you tell me how yours are fastened?

I have black buttons marked 'suspender'. I wonder if they are correct.

The bandoliers come with hook, press-stud or button fastening. I've had these with the Suspender button, black japanned finish. Sounds like yours is fine.

W.

Was it bought from a seller called 'accypals' or something close to that?

regards

Mark

Andy

I have some green ones if anyone is looking. I have taken the ammo out but I also still have a lot of the auto loader clips. I still use the ball ammo when sighting my rifle before the many hunting trips I do.

Let me know.

Glad it did not come from that seller, he listed a very plausible looking one with a 1914 stamp, that sold for £225, he never made any reference to it being original in his listing and when I asked he said as far as he was concerned it was a reproduction. regards Mark

Nice one.

I take it you need 50 & clips? All 1916 '17 dated ok?

You can have em for nowt but you'll have to wait 'til there clean.

Could be a while unless you wanna do em yerself???

My polishing arm is out of commission -_-

Dave.

A charger is also a platter (plate type not singing type!)

Sorry, but the pedantry just comes bubbling to the surface and there is little I can do about it!

No no no,

a warhorse is where they store all the bullits & clips n stuff,Andy ,where as a wharehouse is French for 'maison perdu'

but thats probably a wee bit off topic.

Does yours ,or anyone else with a WW1 dated bandolier, have the red stamp on it?

I was given a couple, dug up but the cloth had survived & they both had this red stamp.

Same colour as a Brodie (Brit) stamp.
