Remembered Today:

Holman Brothers

I have been contacted by an Aussie who thought that his Grandfather and Gt Uncle served in 9th Bn Sherwood Foresters.

Sods law - neither are listed!

Could some kind person get the MIC for me please off Ancestry.

3802 Pte Albert Holman - Notts and Derby Regt and then WR/300335 RE.

I am fairly certain that this man wa sin 9th Bn as he was evacuated from Suvla on the Britannic.

The other is an educated guess! Arthur Holman was supposedly killed on Gallipoli. I can find no 9th Bn man to fit but on checking CWGC site , I have -

Cpl A Holman 42356, RE - Portianos Mil Cem, Lemnos.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks

Steve M

Brilliant, many many thanks.

He must have been a 9th Bn man. Another one for the ever growing list.

I am sure Albert must be his Gt Uncle.

I cannot thank you enough. He died just before his brother got there. I wonder if he got the chance to visit the grave when on Lemnos.

Cheers

Steve
