Photos Of Pilots

Hi

I don't know if this already known about, but I only found it yesterday.

I have recently signed up for the two week free trial on Ancestry, so I put in the name of one of the guys I have been researching, an airman, and it brought up some records from the Royal Aero Club. The records are really just a file card with details of them passing their flying certificate, however, in most cases there is also a photo of the man in question.

I still have a couple of days left on my free trail, so if anyone researching an airman wants me to have a look for a photo post the details and I'll have a look.

Regards

IanC

Hi Jim

All I could find for McMurchy was his Medal Roll card, I have copied it, do you want a copy?

As for William Mitchell do you have any further details? as just that name brings up to many results. Have you got a middle name, DOB, place of birth?

Hi Cnock,

Nothing at all for Arbery I'm afraid, for Van Allen there is the record card but where his photo is supposed to be it is blank.

Have attached a copy of the card herewith, hope this is OK, if not let me know.

Hi Ian,

Is it too late to ask if you could find details or photo on Sgt Allan Scott Cardno - he qualified as a pilot in early 1918.

Hello Ian,

Thanks any way!

There is an error on the record card of VAN ALLEN, he died on 4/5/1916 and not on 11/5/1916 in Germany.

In fact he was originally buried at the Belgian coast (now resting at Ingooigem British military cem)

Cnock

Ian

I'd appreciate any information on Lieut. Cyril Victor C WRIGHT, RAF (ex-RNAS) killed in a fly accident on 24th May 1919.

He was born in Kent in 1893.

Many thanks

Harper

Hello, here a recommendation for an award for S/Lt. Van ALLEN ;

VAN ALLEN K.M N/E Flt.S/Lt. RNAS 85T021 N/E

Vice Admiral Dover Patrol N/E N/E

R.N.A.S. Officers - Attacks on Enemy Aerodrome 23.04.16 & 04.05.16 N/E

He took part in Air Raids of 23rd April, 1916, and the 4th May, 1916, on Maiakerquel (?) Aerodrome.

Nothing for Howells, have you got a middle name, DOB or place of birth for Armstrong?

This looks like Bush.
