Ian C Posted 13 September , 2008 Share Posted 13 September , 2008 Hi I don't know if this already known about, but I only found it yesterday. I have recently signed up for the two week free trial on Ancestry, so I put in the name of one of the guys I have been researching, an airman, and it brought up some records from the Royal Aero Club. The records are really just a file card with details of them passing their flying certificate, however, in most cases there is also a photo of the man in question. I still have a couple of days left on my free trail, so if anyone researching an airman wants me to have a look for a photo post the details and I'll have a look. As for William Mitchell do you have any further details? as just that name brings up to many results. Have you got a middle name, DOB, place of birth? Starlight Posted 13 September , 2008 Share Posted 13 September , 2008 Hi Ian, Is it too late to ask if you could find details or photo on Sgt Allan Scott Cardno - he qualified as a pilot in early 1918. Regards Steve
Cnock Posted 14 September , 2008 Share Posted 14 September , 2008 Hello Ian, Thanks any way! There is an error on the record card of VAN ALLEN, he died on 4/5/1916 and not on 11/5/1916 in Germany. In fact he was originally buried at the Belgian coast (now resting at Ingooigem British military cem) Regards, Cnock
