Chris Foster Posted 11 September , 2008 Author Share Posted 11 September , 2008 So would I Chris, do we have any members in Belgium who could help with this? Colin Good point Colin. Or if anyone is going to Belgium and in particular Brussels, would they consider popping into the museum, to try and get a photo ? Chris
Andrew Upton Posted 12 September , 2008 Share Posted 12 September , 2008 Many thanks Andrew. I stand corrected ! Change made Much better (I normally portray 33rd Div MGC when I do living history, so can often be seen sporting a pair of the dominoes!).

Colin.j Posted 12 September , 2008 Share Posted 12 September , 2008 Chris Thank you for the wonderful illustrations, which I am enjoying very much. One small observation, your Yorkshire rose 49th. Div seems to be lying on its side and needs turning 90 deg. to the left, as per Mike Chappell's illustration, and the coats of arms of all three former Ridings. Thanks again and keep them coming. bantamforgot Posted 13 September , 2008 Share Posted 13 September , 2008 Excellent representations Chris I am sure will be welcomed by many members. Reference the query over the original 35th. Div. perhaps we could ask Aurel , he is sure to know a member near Bruxelles who could assist with this query? How about a poll on the merits of the insignia , also the reasons for so many that have no obvious origins.? Colin

Desmond7 Posted 15 September , 2008 Share Posted 15 September , 2008 Thanks to Johnreed for the 'one eyed man is king' explanation .. can you (or anyone else expand on that) .. was that a Kipling story? And why did the Guards choose that symbol? Cheers Des
