KIA 29/3/16 6thBtn South Staffordshire Rgt he joined in 1914,prior to this he was a junior partner with Underhill,Thorneycroft and Smith Solicitors in Wolverhampton. Managing clerk with Taylor, Kirkman & Co of Manchester. Joined Aug 1914 as Private, 6th Batt. Manchester Regiment. Gazetted 2nd Lieut. in the same Regiment April 1915, promoted Captain in August 1915. Once mentioned in despatches. Served in Gallipoli. Killed in Gallipoli August 7th, 1915. Member of Underhill, Thorneycroft & Smith and Neve, Thorneycroft & Co, Wolverhampton. Received commission in the South Staffordshire Regiment in October 1914 and proceeded to the front in March 1915, promoted Lieut. Once mentioned in despatches. Educated at Rugby School from 1893-97 Received 3rd Class Mod 1899 and 2 Jur 1899 from Corpus Christi College, Oxford Called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1902 In May 1908 he married Dr. Marion Hunter. In practice in London from 1902 to 1914 Soon after the outbreak of war he joined the Anti-Aircraft Corps of teh RNAS and was severely injured in France on 25 Sept 15. Commissioned as 2nd Lieut.
