Martyn Gibson Posted 5 September , 2008 Share Posted 5 September , 2008 Bit of a quandry with this soldier and I was wondering if any one out there could shed some light on it for me. Researching the soldiers on the local War memorial and I have the following soldier listed on the CWGC site as being in the Wiltshire Regiment. If I check him out for his MIC he is listed as Middlesex Regiment. In du Ruvigny's he is also listed as Middlesex. If anyone can confirm which regiment he belonged to I would be most appreciative. Kind regards Martyn

Martyn Gibson Posted 7 September , 2008 Author Share Posted 7 September , 2008 Grant, Thank you for this info from SDGW. Still confused though.....SDGW, du Ruvignys and his MIC all say Middlesex Regt but the CWGC state Wiltshire Regt. Don't see any transfer details on his MIC. The truth is out there somewhere??????? grantowi Posted 8 September , 2008 Share Posted 8 September , 2008 Martyn, Might be that CWGC have got it wrong, you could drop them a line and explain why you're confused and see what they say. Just had a thought, does the FT in the SDGW entry stand for Terrirorial Force ? Grant
Martyn Gibson Posted 12 December , 2008 Author Share Posted 12 December , 2008 Hi Pals, Sorry to be throwing this one back in to the ring again but I am still no where near finding out which was his Regiment. I have now had a reply back from the CWGC and all they can tell me is that this is the only info that they have. The reply was unable to confirm or deny that he was Wiltshire or Middlesex Regiment. Does anyone know of another way of checking which was his correct regiment. Many thanks Martyn
