rothwell Posted 2 September , 2008 Share Posted 2 September , 2008 Hi all,new to the forum and military research[please forgive my ignorance].my grandmother`s brother Private Bernard Danaher 1st bn South Wales Borderers died 10/11/1917.aged 21.I believe this was the third battle of Passchendaele?.I have found a photo of him in the local newspaper and was in the Lewis Gun Section.What I want to know is how I can find out more about what he was doing there?Please forgive me if this sort of question has been asked before. ralphjd Posted 2 September , 2008 Share Posted 2 September , 2008 Hi, Sorry cannot help re what he was at at the time, but a bit of information from Soldiers Died cd:- he was born and enlisted in Newport service number 26266, according to his Medal Index Card entitled to the British War and Victory Medals.
