Hi all,new to the forum and military research[please forgive my ignorance].my grandmother`s brother Private Bernard Danaher 1st bn South Wales Borderers died 10/11/1917.aged 21.I believe this was the third battle of Passchendaele?.I have found a photo of him in the local newspaper and was in the Lewis Gun Section.What I want to know is how I can find out more about what he was doing there?Please forgive me if this sort of question has been asked before.

Hi, Sorry cannot help re what he was at at the time, but a bit of information from Soldiers Died cd:- he was born and enlisted in Newport service number 26266, according to his Medal Index Card entitled to the British War and Victory Medals. Regards Ralph.
