York - London

London - Lille (Eurostar)

Cross the road from Euro Lille Station to Lille Flandres Station

Lille Flandres - Kortrijk

Kortrijk - Ypres.

I went via Brussels last month on Eurostar as the ticket was valid for onward travel to any Belgium station. I must admit when I realised the geography I thought I had made a mistake and would investigate Iain's way. Possibly another of those time/money decisions!

It's a bit of a treck from Brussels, when I did it a few years back it was around 3 hours from Brussels to Ypres. Can't fault the reliability of Belguim trains but they tend not to go that fast! As others have recomended I'd get off at Lille.

My memory is not what it once was or perhaps I caught a train that stopped everywhere!

That said I'd still recommend going to Lille. The Ariane Hotel in Ypres will collect you for €70.
