Guest donxkey Posted 29 August , 2008 Share Posted 29 August , 2008 Hey my great uncle gave me this and I was just interested to find out some more info. I haven't had any luck searching google etc and was wondering if anyone has any advice. It came to me in a box with some weird little buttonhole lapel things in the shape of windmills which probably have nothing to do with it! Thanks Clare
Owen Hales Posted 29 August , 2008 Share Posted 29 August , 2008 Hey my great uncle gave me this and I was just interested to find out some more info. I haven't had any luck searching google etc and was wondering if anyone has any advice. The handwriting doesn't look like early 1900's to me, more like post ww2. Could the date be 1975? John Milner Posted 29 August , 2008 Share Posted 29 August , 2008 Clare The payments were made in 1975 and the currency is US Dollars. Are those windmill things Crossed Swords. If so, I would say you have US Army insignia. Regards John
John_Hartley Posted 29 August , 2008 Share Posted 29 August , 2008 So, presumably, an American soldier serving in Europe during the 1970s. Problem solved even if well off-topic for the Great War Forum.
John_Hartley Posted 30 August , 2008 Share Posted 30 August , 2008 On second glimpse, there's something not quite right. If an American, why are the dates in European style of day/month not the American month/day
auchonvillerssomme Posted 30 August , 2008 Share Posted 30 August , 2008 I think its South African or Rhodesian. European being seperate to Native. Mick
