Remembered Today:

RFC Throwley, Kent (Near Faversham)

I have visited the location a few times in the past few years. Quite an interesting place to visit if you are interested in WW1 airfields.

I have just got a copy of Anthony Morre's book "RAF THROWLEY, Kent's Forgotten Airfield". It's a riveting read with plenty of interesting photos. I can heartily recommend it to you all out there. Cost me £12.99 but I notice it's on offer for £6.00 some places.

I have found that not many Kent residents know of it's former existance which is somewhat surprising given it's importance during the Great War for Home Defence purposes.

I'm planning another visit soon. I was wondering if anyone else in Kent would like to meet up there?

I also have a wierd interest in nearby RFC WYE yet another forgotten Kent Airfield of the Great War....

Best Wishes

Neil
