1st Bn Essex Regiment

Since trying to trace my grandad I have found a great uncle Frank Dorling 3/2600 Private Essex Regimert 1st Bn died 14/04/1917 age 20 buried at Arras Memorial this information I got from CWGC

wondered if anyone could tell me what was happening around the date of death Thank you for reading

Frank Dorling was killed in action with C Company 1st Essex in the fighting around Infantry Hill near Monchy Le Preux. If you search the forum for "Essex" and "Monchy" you will find a previous thread with details of the action and maps from the regimental history. Details of his company are from the International Red Cross list of missing men published in 1917.
