jimmyjames Posted 18 August , 2008 Share Posted 18 August , 2008 Native Cheltonian Albert Creed, photo below, served in the 4th Bn (Pte, 14017). Killed in action at Lesboeufs on 25th September 1916. Adopted Cheltonian Robert Hamblin (Pte, 21756). Died of wounds at Calais on 2nd February 1916. Native Cheltonian William Hunt (Pte, 27530). Killed in action at Gonnelieu on 1st December 1917. Adopted Cheltonian (born in New Zealand) Lt Nathaniel Pearce. Killed in action at Bourlon Wood on 25th November 1917. Native Cheltonian Henry Wheeler (Pte, 20712). Killed in action in the Loos/Hulloch area 4th October 1915. Regretably, I have no photo of Lt Pearce, but have snaps of Hamblin, Hunt and Wheeler. I have serveral of my grandfather: Arthur William Dolphin, 23998, 4th Bn Grenadier Guards Attested Caterham 1/6/15 LCpl 6/4/16 France 23/7/16 Cpl 9/4/17 LSgt 4/8/17 GSW Rt Leg Apr 1918 Returned to England 17/4/1918 Discharged 16/4/1919 He developed gangrene and was subjected to 3 amputations finally losing the leg from just below the knee. His brother George Dolphin (24281) joined the 3rd Battalion GG at Woolwich on 25/10/15 George was wounded on 15/9/1916 subsequently dying of those wounds at No5 CCS at Corbie on 20th Sept 1916 aged 23 years George is buried in Corbie Communal Cemetery Extension Plot 2 Row E Grave 24 Let me know if you want copies of the photos Pam Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
